Free a Slave! Ayudanos a Liberar a Un Ezclavo!

Last week in class we talked about Africa: Slavery & Famine. We looked at pictures from KidsPrayer.com. South Sudan claimed independence from North Sudan on July 9th. South Sudan became a part of the United Nations a few days later. Even though South Sudan is now a free nation, there are still over 35.000 people enslaved in North Sudan. As we prayed for this area of africa one student prayed not only for rain and food but for "spiritual rain" in the land! As a class we have decided to Free A Slave. Over 100,000 slaves have already been freed by organizations like Christian Solidarity International. Our goal is: $109.00. With this money CSI will free a slave and "each slave receives a survival kit, including a mosquito net, a blanket, a plastic sheet, a water container, a cooking pot, a sickle, fishing hooks and food rations. The freed slaves find their way back to their home areas through the chieftainship network. Most slaves find their relatives. The few who do not are taken in by a chief or the church."(1) As this slave starts out on this new journey it is our prayer that his or her heart will be sensitive to the truth God is leading them too.  True freedom only comes through Salvation! Last week our class offering was $27 and someone had the great idea to have a bake sale this coming Sunday! Come ready to free a slave. And pray  for those who are "bound" here in our school classrooms, neighborhoods, and the supermarkets. Jesus, help them find freedom in you!

Matthew 25:31-40
31 "But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate them as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left.34 Then the King will say to those on the right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' 37 "Then these righteous ones will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?' 40 And the King will tell them, 'I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'
